I am so torn when it comes to this book。 I found a lot of un feminist and counterproductive “lessons and morals” taught to the March daughters, like Jo’s arc of restraining and pushing down her feelings。 It angered me that Meg’s husband was so inadequate and lazy and Mrs。 March blamed Meg, to which that was just an accepted fact。At the same time, Laurie annoyed me in his inability to respect boundaries and take no for an answer。 Characters are supposed to be flawed but these flaws weren’t treate I am so torn when it comes to this book。 I found a lot of un feminist and counterproductive “lessons and morals” taught to the March daughters, like Jo’s arc of restraining and pushing down her feelings。 It angered me that Meg’s husband was so inadequate and lazy and Mrs。 March blamed Meg, to which that was just an accepted fact。At the same time, Laurie annoyed me in his inability to respect boundaries and take no for an answer。 Characters are supposed to be flawed but these flaws weren’t treated as flaws。 They just seemed to be widely accepted and normalized。 However, I don’t blame her whatsoever。 I know that, for this time, this story was progressive and controversial。 Still, I really did like the book, especially towards the middle of the end。 。。。more

Tbh I read this book for school and really just couldn’t get into it。 It’s not terrible and has a very cute ending that really ties everything together, but I had a hard time following the story line and there were no major events that had me on the edge of my seat。

-4。5 stars-We all know the story of the raw, honest and unforgettable March sisters。 I knew the story, having read the graphic novel; Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy。 But, I had actually never got around to reading the original book。 Once you start reading the book, you really can’t put it down。 It doesn’t have the stiff and dull feeling lots of classics have that sort of prevents you from wanting to keep reading。 It flows really well and the sisters as well as their friends and neighbours are memorable a -4。5 stars-We all know the story of the raw, honest and unforgettable March sisters。 I knew the story, having read the graphic novel; Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy。 But, I had actually never got around to reading the original book。 Once you start reading the book, you really can’t put it down。 It doesn’t have the stiff and dull feeling lots of classics have that sort of prevents you from wanting to keep reading。 It flows really well and the sisters as well as their friends and neighbours are memorable and unique。 ❤️ 。。。more

I couldn’t even finish it I hated it so much。 I hate Amy so so so much。 I hate how every chapter has to end with a “holier than art thou” Christian lesson。 It was just so so bad。 Not even me picturing the movie could make it any better。 It was so shallow and boring。 Also it invoked so much rage。 Just pure rage。 I wanted to burn this book like howAmy burned Jo’s (also how could Jo ever forgive Amy for something like that??? So unrealistic)

This was another childhood favorite of mine。 I enjoy how this book tells the story of empowered women who work hard during a time when they were deemed inferior to men。 It depicts the reality of a woman who had to work nearly twice as hard in life to achieve her ambition because she was burdened with societal expectations to do "women's work"。 This was another childhood favorite of mine。 I enjoy how this book tells the story of empowered women who work hard during a time when they were deemed inferior to men。 It depicts the reality of a woman who had to work nearly twice as hard in life to achieve her ambition because she was burdened with societal expectations to do "women's work"。 。。。more

This novel was on my TBR for a long time, but the release of the 2019 movie finally encouraged me to read it。 I truly loved this novel! It was simple, wholesome, and an easy read。 Despite it being very long, the storyline kept me interested, and effectively gave me a sense of familial love for the March family characters and their friends/extended family。 Although simple, or even elementary, the lessons or morals taught throughout the novel felt encouraging and uplifting as I read along。 Additio This novel was on my TBR for a long time, but the release of the 2019 movie finally encouraged me to read it。 I truly loved this novel!
